We are very very proud of our Cathedral. It took nearly six centuries to be completed and it is the largest church in Italy (Saint Peter, the roman cathedral, is not in Italy but located in Vatican, a sovereign state).
It's one of the symbol of our city: majestic, impressive, unique and it definitively worth a visit!
In Duomo square you will find many places to get a snack, many shops and also the entrance of the Vittorio Emanuele Gallery, the oldest shopping gallery in the city, leading to Scala square, where you can visit one of the most beautiful and famous theaters in the world, in particular for opera!
The Duomo roof is open to tourists (for a fee), which allows many views of some spectacular sculptures that would otherwise be unappreciated. The roof of the cathedral is known for the forest of openwork pinnaclesand spires, set upon delicate flying buttresses.
Enjoy it!!!
