Santa Maria delle Grazie

Very very close to our cooking school (10 minutes walking) there is one of the most important churches in Milano: it is dedicated to the Marian devotion of St Mary of the Graces and the construction of it took decades during the 15th century.

According to one source, in 1492–1497 Bramante worked on the crossing and the dome as well the transept apses and the coir with apse and you really have to go and see it:it's amazing.

During World War II, on the night of 15 August 1943, an allied bomb hit the church and the convent. Much of the refectory was destroyed, but some walls survived, including the one that holds The Last Supper from Leonardo da Vinci (a miracle) , which had been sand-bagged in order to protect it.

Nowadays you can visit the church and, if you book long time in advance, you can also visit the refectory with the Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper which, in my opinion, is one of the most impressive masterpieces you can see all over Italy!!!

After the visit, if you like to have a cup of tea or an aperitif in one of the oldest cafeterias in Milano go to Biffi, just at the end of Corso Magenta, the same street where the church is! Enjoy!!!
